I Won?

I did? I swear I am still in shock. I cannot believe this is really happening but I have, I have won the Campus Romance Contest here on Litnet. The whole experience at the AWP Conference was AMAZING. There was a massive amount of Presses, Literary Magazines, Publishers, Poetry Publishers, and MFA writing programs. There were guilds and workshops and I am exhausted just thinking about it but at the same time invigorated by the possibilities. I was handing out my business card left and right as I was accepting submission forms and collecting contacts or more information. Two Editors even asked me to autograph my business card and I’m still kinda geeking out about it. Then the big day finally arrives and they say my name and I am in disbelief. I made it. I am an award winning author. My God I couldn’t ask for a more amazing day!!! The finalist are a wonderful, beautiful group of women who I am proud be find myself amongst.   Jessica-Wright you were the heart and soul of our little group. You sought us out and brought us together and for that I am eternally grateful. AnnaRCase- I love your sense of humor, don’t every change your sweet and sassy ways. You’re amazing. Alexandra Marie – I so wish we could have gotten a chance to hang out with you more. You are such a talented writer. I hope in the future we will get a chance to get to know one another better. Dear Litnet, what can I say… Anastasia Zhuravlova- Thank you for organizing all the details down to the wonderful hotel you chose. The scenic river at sunrise was just what I needed to help me reset and center each day.   Andrew Tytenko – You did an awesome job today! And thank you once again, I just can’t say it enough for taking a chance on this author and her talents. I owe you BIG and I hope to help you in any way I can in making American Litnet be the HUGE success I know you would like it to be. AGAIN, I must say THANK YOU my wonderful lovely readers. Without your love and support of me and my book. I would not have experienced this moment. And to my entire family who have supported me every step of my journey so far, who have believed in me and have given me to courage to pursue my dreams. I Love you! I Love you! I Love You! I’ve Made It To The Finals!!!

So happy right now! 33 books written, 10 short listed and 3 picked for the finials and my book Someone To Watch Over Me is one of those book. So what does this mean you ask? Well, it means that my story written for the Litnet Campus Romance Contest has been chosen and I get to fly out to Portland Oregon at the end of this month to attend the American Writer’s Conference and Book Fair. It’s a real chance to connect with people who have achieved what I am hoping to achieve which is having a career in writing the stories I love to write. I will have a chance to talk with editors, agents, publishers, and print houses. I will admit I’m a little nervous as I have never done something like this before. But I do so hope to make the most of this opportunity that has been given to me and I’m so grateful to have it. I sincerely hope that on the 30th when Litnet announces the winner during a special event that I get chosen, because I will have achieved another mile stone in my writing career. I could officially say I am an award winning author, and that would be amazing. I already know what I would like to spend the $500.00 on that the winner receives, as I homeschool my boys, we could seriously use an upgrade to our swing set outside now that they are getting bigger. It be great if they had an awesome place to place during lunch break when the weather gets warmer. Well, like all dreams… it pays to dream big! Wish me Luck! Someone To Watch Over Me is Short Listed

So back in December, I was approached on Wattpad by a Litnet editor to participate in their Campus Romance Contest. I had nothing currently written that involved the New Adult/College Romance genre. So it meant a whole new story for me. The deadline was March first and we were already two weeks into December and the novel had to be complete to be considered. I wasn’t sure I could make that deadline. However, upon researching Litnet, it seemed too good of an opportunity to pass up and so I decided to give it go. I couldn’t believe the response I got from readers. Over 267 comments about how much they loved the book and that they want a follow up book. Two readers even said they’d like to see it turned into a movie. Now that’s a dream! Having participated in many contest both on and off line I have to say even though the signs were their I tried to detach myself from the outcome because I’ve done well before but never made it to that finish line. Still the book gained momentum and on January 27th I was shocked to see that my book was ranked #1 in New Adult/College, #1 in Young Adult, and #1 in Romance on Litnet and remained there for the whole month of February. It was then I began to believe I may really have a shot at this. I still worried about getting my hopes too high but then it happened on March 1st the short list was posted, and  Someone to Watch Over Me was on it. I was so excited. Now out of 32 novels, narrowed down to the top 10, 3 finalist will be chosen to go to the American Writer’s Conference in Portland Oregon where the winner of the contest will be announce at a special event on March 30th. https://litnet.com/en/blogs/post/82842 I am eagerly awaiting the results. Stay tuned. Charity aka Ruechari

be brave! dream big!

I have a dream of not only being a published author but a successful one which requires my presence and input. I’m trying to be brave and dream big as most of what I am doing is completely new to me and well… a little out of my comfort zone. But when you dream big you have to be willing to think big. I have made my book Best buds b and d in digital form now available for Kindle and Kindle Select and reformatted by book for paperback. All formats are now available on Amazon.com. I just received my first copy (and have already given it away to my Dad – because I can refuse that man nothing) but it turned out really great. I’ll show it to you all once my second copy comes in. It’s a really great feeling seeing your son walk around the house holding your book saying “Best Buds b and d by Charity Rue. That’s my Mom. Dad will you read this to me? Mom wrote this book for me.” – Matthew I did write it for him and published it so every kid who has a hard time with these two letters can have a fun way of learning the difference. I also plan on making a audio book of this story once I can set myself up with the right equipment. The next announcement you will most likely be seeing from me however will be my website launch which should be let me think… oh that’s right NOW! WooHoo! The dream is growing too… Coming soon will be my book “Minding p and q” a story about the letter p who wishes to become friends with q but doesn’t think q to be interested as q is always hanging around with u. Again, another story to help kids recognize the difference between these next two letters. COMING THIS FALL. So remember… it may not feel comfortable going through the change required to make a dream come true but it’s worth pursuing. So be BRAVE and DREAM big!!!!
